The Hills is where Summerlin started. Development began in 1990, and the community’s first residents moved into The Hills in March 1991. The 394-acre village is anchored by The Hills Park, Summerlin’s first major park, which Howard Hughes finished months before those first families arrived. Becker Middle School and Lummis Elementary School sit beside the park.

Tree-lined streets and mature landscaping set the village apart from newer parts of Summerlin.
